Rip looked, and beheld a precise counterpart of himself as he went up the mountain:apparently as lazy , and certainly as ragged.
由此我们根据上下文发现实际表达为apparently as lazy as he had been , and certainly as ragged as he had been,这样上下文意思就很清楚了,即后整个句子的意思为:Rip瞧了瞧,清楚地看见了当时他上山时的样子:很显然和过去一样懒散和衣衫褴褛。
It also means less crowding, and you don’t have wait as long to get your food.
Walking by the city’s newer buildings, the pedestrian is now as likely to be ambushed by a car sliding from some underground garage as to be visually assaulted by gap toothed parking lots and eerie garage facades.
